Make a Pledge to the Tiger Fund!
Please consider donating to the Davidson K-8 Tiger Fund to help us reach our goal of raising $30,000 to purchase new Promethean smart boards for our lower school classrooms. The Tiger Fund will continue to be used to support the school in many other ways as well, including teachers in professional development, DK-8 families in need and purchasing online curriculum platforms for all grades.
Welcome to Davidson K-8!
On behalf of our PTO Executive Board, welcome to the 2020-21 school year!
I wish I could welcome everyone new and old to DK-8 in person, but this school year is forcing us all to approach things a little differently and brings many unknowns and uncertainties. With that being said, I hope you will reach out to me or any of the PTO Board members with questions you have or ideas you would like the PTO to consider.
This PTO Back to School bulletin is filled with information that will help you plug in to the DK-8 community and take part in all of the great things happening during the school year. I encourage you to take a few minutes to review the information below and the attached materials.
Everyone's participation is essential for the PTO to be effective and truly representative of our school. We want everyone to feel that they are part of the DK-8 community! Whether you have to or 20 hours to offer throughout the school year, your ideas, time, and talents are needed. Of course, this year we all have to participate a little differently. With kids starting the school year at home and CMS indicating that no parents or volunteers will be allowed in the school building once our kids start to come back to the classroom, much of our engagement will have to happen at home.
Communication among the faculty and staff, PTO, and DK-8 families helps create a strong school team. ParentSquare, Tiger Tribune Newsletters, our Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/davidsonpto), and website can help you get connected with DK-8.
The Tiger Fund will continue to be our primary form of fundraising. To that end, you will find a Tiger Fund Pledge Form attached. This year's Tiger Fund priorities include:
This year, we will not be selling our discount cards and many of our usual fundraisers have had to be cancelled. So now, more than ever, your donations to the Tiger Fund are vital. Also, please keep an eye out for some new COVID-19 style events we are working on for this fall.
We are very fortunate to have such active and dedicated families at Davidson K-8, and we thank you for your continued support. The first PTO general meeting will be at the end of September, look for more information in the future. We are looking forward to working with you.
Best wishes for a happy and successful school year!

Support Needed for Evelyn Tew
Davidson K-8 Community,
As some of you know, one of our own - a fifth grade student named Evelyn Tew - was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Evelyn's mom, Mary Tew, is a beloved teacher at our school and Evelyn's little sister Penelope is in second grade. On behalf of the PTO I wanted to include two links where you can find information related to helping the Tew family as they deal with the unimaginable.
The Go Fund Me page can be found here:
Support Needed for Isaac Coleman
Isaac Coleman, a second-grader at our school is set to receive a life-saving kidney transplant. COTA for Team Isaac has been founded to help the Coleman family be financially prepared for all that comes with a kidney transplant.
Surgery like the one Isaac is facing comes with mountains of expenses. This fund will help offset the costs of things like medications, his family's relocation, and any other fees they may encounter along their journey. Isaac will be getting his new kidney on Friday, and what a fantastic gift it would be to make sure they have what they need to focus on Isaac's recovery.
Give a little, give a lot, every little bit helps! Let's show the Coleman Family our support! Remember, any donation is tax-deductible.
